What it is:
The EODC, in cooperation with ESA, is proud to invite you to the "BEST IDEAS AWARDS 2021” within the context of the openEO Platform. We will award forward-thinking ideas in the area of Earth Observation within the scientific, public and private domain. Contributions should demonstrate innovative use of EO data repositories, leading to improved information retrievals or new applications.
What you can win:
The winners of the “Best Ideas Award 2021” competition will be awarded attractive license packages for the use of the openEO Platform service, which shall allow to implement their proposed idea. They will receive premium support and tailored ICT infrastructure, amounting to a total value of more than 20.000 EURO.
The openEO Platform aims to fill the capability gap in Europe and beyond for efficient, intuitive, and scalable EO data processing and analytics within a federated cloud environment. The key aspect is the provision of an easy-to-use interface towards an API that hides the underlying complexity and provides a broad range of analytic functionality.
How to enter:
To enter the competition, you need to provide a single page document outlining your original idea by Friday, 04.06.2021, 18:00 (CEST). Afterwards, the finalists will be invited to pitch their idea at the EODC Forum 2021 on Thursday, 10.06.2021. The single page document and the pitch will be evaluated by an independent jury. The winners of the competition will be announced directly afterwards before the closing of the EODC Forum 2021. Participation is open to all.
Structure of the single page document:
- One sentence describing the idea as a whole
- Aims, solutions and challenges described in a methodological approach
- Key datasets to be used
- One A4 page (11 pt, Calibri)
